1982 Honda CB 750 Restoration Project

During a quick weekend trip down to Connecticut I ended up running into someone who wanted to get rid of an old Honda CB motorcycle. This is a true “garage find” with all the original parts intact and less than 5,500 miles. This will be my 2nd vintage bike restoration, the first one being a 1978 Honda CB 550. Although I’ve been in the market for another late 70′s CB this free 1982 was just too hard to pass up!

Here is the priority list… we’ll see how quickly we’re able to make it through this:

  1. Carb Rebuild
  2. Gas Tank Electrolysis and Sealant
  3. Replace Piston Rings, Head Gasket, Battery, Tires
  4. Fix Front Brakes
  5. Seat/Handlebars Customization

    Hi Dan,
Just starting restoration of a ’79 CB750K myself and wondered if you could share your lessons learned with me ? Did you need to change the piston rings ? Any photos of the work ?
    Thanks,
    Rod

      Hi Rod,

Congrats on the CB. The late 70′s were certainly a better design than the early 80′s.

I will post more pictures and updates soon.

The bike is almost 100% restored and once finished I’ll send you some of the details.

      Dan
